Your Wedding…
Whether it be contemporary…vintage…simple…extravagant…fun…
Which ever way you wish to style your special day, I will create a ceremony that complements it perfectly.
I pride myself on getting to know you during this special time to ensure that I can tailor your ceremony and capture your love story. I am open to your ideas, and it is my job to create a ceremony that is right for you as a couple. From a classic ceremony with a twist to something more daring, your wedding should be whatever you want it to be. I’m here to inspire, guide and support you on this journey.
And I will of course manage all of the legal requirements to ensure that your wedding day is not only beautiful but also legally binding.
My standard Wedding Package includes:
- An initial, obligation-free meeting to listen to your ideas and discuss how we can create a meaningful and unique ceremony together. During this meeting we’ll discuss the process of writing your ceremony and the legal requirements for your marriage. You will also receive an information kit. Should you wish to proceed, I would ask that you complete a booking form, sign a celebrant service agreement and pay a booking fee to secure my services.
- A second meeting, whereupon we will discuss the first draft of your ceremony and attend to the lodgement of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM). I will also need to sight the identification documents relevant to your circumstances.
- Shortly after the second meeting I will email you the first draft of your ceremony. We can meet again to discuss or correspond as often as you like via email or telephone.
- A full rehearsal either at the venue (venue permitting) in the days prior to your ceremony or at an alternate venue.
- Completion of all legal paperwork and lodgement with the relevant authorities on your behalf. (Please note, after the marriage couples must obtain their own Registered Marriage Certificate from Births, Deaths and Marriages.)
- A presentation copy of your ceremony.
- Travel within the Melbourne metropolitan area (additional costs for travel may apply).
- Depending on venue selection, a professional quality PA system may need to be hired (additional costs will apply).
- I will dress appropriately to ensure that I complement the bridal party and reflect your dress code.
The legal stuff
Let me take care of the legal aspects of your marriage so that you can simply enjoy your special day. As a qualified and authorised marriage celebrant, I have a detailed understanding of the Marriage Act (1961) and how it applies to your wedding.
Here are a few key things you should know:
- A Notice of Intended Marriage (NoIM) must be completed and provided to me at least one month prior to your wedding ceremony (and no more than 18 months before the ceremony).
- You must provide to me, evidence of your date & place of birth (your birth certificate, or your passport), AND evidence of your identity (eg your Drivers Licence, Passport, Australian Citizenship Certificate) AND evidence of termination of a previous marriage (if applicable)
- Before the ceremony, you will also need to sign a declaration, to declare that there is no legal reason why you should not be married.
- The marriage must be witnessed by two (2) people who are over 18 years
- I will provide all of the necessary forms and will take care of lodging the legal documents (including the Certificate of Marriage) with the Births Deaths and Marriages office.
The Monitum is the legal wording that is required to be said at the ceremony in order for the marriage to be valid. I will discuss with you the wording of the Monitum and work with you to include this in the ceremony whilst still making the ceremony uniquely you!
